Results Poster
Yesterday we worked on our poster. I was nervous because I liked the layout, but didn't know how to change the dimensions. However, I ended up recreating the layout that I liked with the bigger poster template. Also, a couple people from my group came to help with the revisions. We changed the scoring process and also added a critical needs column and a column about our winning proposal and what Directions plans to do. I added graphs and pictures as well to make it more interesting. Hopefully, our instructors will like it this time and we won't have to make any more changes.

Conference
Today I had my conference and I have mixed feelings. I am happy that I got feedback on how to make my work better and instruction on things that I have not done yet, like the self assessments for the posters. However, I'm still super stressed about the amount of work because I know this week is going to be crazy to get it all done and now that I have feedback on the poster and final self assessment, I have to fix those which adds more work on what we already have. I feel like if I stay really focused until friday, when the portfolio and leadership projects are due, I will accomplish all of my goals of completing the assignments and ending up with a good grade on them.

Sunday Funday!
Today I took a break from homework. It probably wasn't the most responsible move, but I've been working all day on homework for weeks and it's exhausting. Today, I woke up and went to church. I love going because it helps me relax when I am super stressed. Then, I went to the Rays game at 1:40 with some friends. I haven't been to one yet this season, so it was a lot of fun. We had decent seats and the boys paid for us, which was great. I've always loved baseball but I've been a Tigers fan. However, now I'm starting to convert to the Rays. I really like BJ Upton. We ended up winning, and it was a great day. I came home and napped and have just relaxed. I really needed a day like today!

Drag Show
Last night, I attended the drag show in the Coquina Cafe. It started at 7, but was running late and actually didn't start until 730-8. They had a real drag being the MC and a Dj playing the music. It was very interesting. At first, I was a little uncomfortable because I have never been confronted with this type of experience, and it was a little awkward. It was REALLY weird seeing some of my friends and how believable they looked being drags. My favorite performance was my friend Chuck or Madame Merlot. He performed to Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, and actually won the whole show. I also liked the real drag that started off with a ballerina performance and moved on to be hardcore with punky girl songs. Overall, it was a very interesting experience.

Today
Today I have a lot to do. I have to finish my creativity project for my leadership class. Also, I have to get my portfolio together. I need to write my self assessments for the various assignments as well as edit my old self assessments. I need to learn how to include my graphical representation as well as our posters. I should also finish the results poster. I also need to do everything on the course calender and make sure that I understand the assignments and when they are due. Overall, I have a lot to get done today.

Undergraduate Research Symposium
Today I got up extra early and went to the research symposium. We were one of the first people to set up. We first got our name tags, program, and tacks to hang up our poster. We then hung around for a while waiting for people to come around. Me and Derek were there for about an hour and a half. It was actually really dead for the first hour. Around 11, more people began showing up. However, not many people asked questions about our poster. They just looked at it, and moved on to the next one. More of our group came at 1130, and we all attended at 1215, right before class. My overall impression, not to be negative, but was that the symposium was not very beneficial to me. I did not get much out of it. When I was there, everyone just walked by our poster and didn't seem interested in it. I think that changing the color of the poster worked well, because it was more appealing to the audience. I probably would have been embarrassed if we did not change the color because it wouldn't have looked professional compared to the other posters. The thing that I would change about it would be marketing for the event. Maybe it was just because I was there early, but there definitely were not many people there, which made it feel like our hard work was almost a waste. I enjoyed looking at our poster and realizing that we did accomplish something this year. I liked that ours proved we actually made a difference, rather than just displaying information. I learned how to illustrate a process efficiently on a poster, keeping in mind rhetorical situation of audience and purpose.

Awards Ceremony
Today I went to the leadership awards ceremony in the Campus Activities Center. It opened with Dr. Calso speaking about the budget cuts in the school, and the ability for the programs to continue to grow in economic hardship. There were many awards given to programs, students, and mentors/instructors. I like that it acknowledged different students that usually do not get any recognition. I really appreciated the new program award, which was awarded to the Residence Hall Assoc. They have been very involved on the campus, so I'm glad they were recognized. I also like that Brian Adkins was awarded. He has always been a person people can go to talk to. He is very reasonable, understanding and an overall trustworthy person. He is a prime example of a leader and I'm glad that he was winner. Overall, it was cool to see the people behind the programs and to hang out with friends for the reception.
Daily Writing April 21st
We have three class meetings left in the semester before the final portfolio is due. What needs to happen in each of those class meetings so that you can have the best possible portfolios?
I have completed all of my individual work for the portfolio. I've made my resume, graphic representation and the final self assessment. As a group, we need to revise the poster and final report, create the results poster and finalize the civic agency profiles. I think that because each board is at different spots, we should just have work time for the next 3 class days.

Renewal
Today in leadership we discussed how organizations must be renewed every once in while. I think now would be the perfect time to renew our NOFO group. We each have been stressed and starting are starting to slack on the work. Both the poster and final report had a lot of comments and issues. I feel that we must learn from this and work to make our final results poster amazing. We each need to take a breath, divide the work and get it done. We also have to do our leadership project, which is overwhelming as well. I am working on the powerpoint, which will hopefully be done by the end of today. We are beginning to get work done, and it is exciting to be able to move on. It's time to renew ourselves individually and as a team, so that we can finish the year successfully.

Hmmm.
Today me and my room mate went to look for apartments! We found two that we realllllly love on 4th street. They're 15 minutes from the school and 15 minutes from downtown Tampa, so we would get the best of both worlds. Both of them are two bedrooms, two baths, and have washer/dryers, stainless steel appliances and walk in closets. The one apartment is $100 more a month, but we both liked it more and it has a fireplace and has more square feet. However, the other one is still very nice and has a younger average age of residency, so we might fit in more there. This is a really huge decision, and I hope we make the right one!

Quote of the day!
“In times of great stress or adversity, it's always best to keep busy, to plow your anger and your energy into something positive.”
I have been taking on the world lately and have even been getting sick from always being stressed. It's hard not to be when I have so many assignments and not enough time. However, I've been scratching off my english to do list and starting my leadership projects as well. I've been taking my quizes in Geography and studying for pre-calc. In addition to school work I have to file for residency (which is a super long process), scheduling for classes, verifying my FAFSA and dealing with personal stresses such as being a bridesmaid for 2 weddings the same year and helping the brides with all their planning! It's been exhausting. But today my whole attitude has changed. I can only do my best, and I will keep trying to do just that. I will continue to work hard, instead of giving up and get good grades, cheaper tuition and pull off two bridal showers, bachelorette parties and weddings! I have a feeling, everything will turn out great. Things are looking up!

What we need to fix on the poster
I want the overall design of our poster to be more legit and professional looking. I think that we need to change the colors, fonts, and columns. Also, we need graphics to make it look better as well. A lot of the text does not make sense so we do need to fix the wording of the poster and possibly move things from different columns to fix formatting and context problems. Our group needs to get on the same page to be more successful.

Weekenddd
Over the weekend I went to visit my family in Port Charlotte. It was a lot of fun! Friday I went to my brothers house for dinner and then back to my mother's and watched Criminal Minds with her. Saturday I learned to Skim Board and it was fabulous! I fell down a lot though..ha. Sunday I helped my sister with wedding plans. She's getting married in April of next year and we looked up venues and wedding colors, but nothing is decided yet. Then I drove home and did homeworkkk! Overall-relaxing weekend!
Posterrr
Today I finished the rest of my portion of the poster. I am in charge of the introduction part. I Decided to do a question/answer format.I discussed what learn serve America is as well as defining student philanthropy board and NOFO. I mentioned the process, but not go into too much detail, because it will be later on in the poster. The poster group will meet tomorrow, read and edit each others parts and then fix them by hopefully Wednesday to have the final draft ready to show the rest of our board and have it ready for printing by Friday.

Ventinggggggg
I am sooooo stressed out in this class. We have so much work to do and not enough time. It is very difficult to get all of it done. Its hard to get my whole board together to meet at the same time because we all have such different schedules. Also, everything takes longer in a group because we all have to agree on each portion, and my group hardly comes to a consensus on anything. We also have individual work that im frustrated about. I love how we wait until the last week to realize we havent commented on any blogs. Also, I have an additional 10 blogs to create to meet the requirements, on top of all our other individual group. I feel that the resume is pointless because I will never use it again. Also, the self reflections of everything are as well, because it does not help me as a student. I know my strengths and weaknesses and writing them down every couple months in this course is repetitive and annoying. Also, we are doing a lot of the same stuff in Morrins class so its just adding to repeating the same information numerous times. We have to grade our groups and reflect on the NOFO process, which we've already done in here. Overall im super agitated.
Daily Writing April 9th
This class period would be best used to split into our boards and work on our projects. My group would split into the poster group and the final report group. I am in the poster group, so we will work on our individual sections. I am in charge of the introduction and will need to add more details to make it longer. Also, we will probably decide on the layout and find the graphics and pictures that will be added. I also need to do my individual work such as my resume composing process and final assessment.
