1.) Homelessness: Poverty and homelessness has been much more popular now that the economy is in financial hardship. I feel very bad for these people and would love to help. Working with soup kitchens, shelters and organizations helping the homeless would make a great change in the world. If we could get some people a place to stay and food to eat, it would change their lives.
3.) Protecting the environment: The environment has been negatively affected by how humans live. Global climate change is a big issue today, because the ice caps are melting. We are decreasing the diversity of plants and animals with our way of life. I believe that by cleaning the community of waste and litter, we will dramatically help with the health of the environment. Also, if we educate others and get more involvement, we will help as well.
2.) Ending Violence against women: Violence against women is a huge issue in society. Many battered women stay around the oppressor because they would have nowhere to go and feel that they are not independent enough. I believe that by giving these women and their children a safe place and counseling then they could walk away from the violence. We could help local shelters and provide the money for their living expenses as well as grief counseling.

We feel the same about homelessness and protecting the environment. I like to see that other people have the same desire to help others and the community in the same way that I do. I think a good way to help with homelessness would be to possibly donate money to an already established shelter so they could better their facilities. I also think that as a community, we need to work on preventing homelessness. I'm not sure exctly how to go about that, but I do believe it is something that we should look into. When it comes to protecting the environment, almost everyone focuses on the water. Maybe it would be a good idea to focus on like cleaning up parks or something different.. just a suggestion! You have great ideas girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad that your board decided to help with homelessness too! It really is an important issue in the community and it makes me so sad when I see them on the streets and can't do anything to help them. I think looking up ways to prevent homelessness would be really cool. It may be very difficult though. Maybe homeless shelters could offer programs on how to help struggling families from losing their house and learn about different options that they have! Thanks for your comment!
